Okay, so it’s a bad pun joke.  But the interesting name juxtaposition with a certain Pit Stop employee was too funny to pass up.  And it was an excuse to honor our Pit Stop Overlord, Renaud on the birth of his new son Miles.  A big King Kongrats to the Renauds on their new addition.

We’re super excited to have a guest strip by our interwebs-pal Joe Hunter! He’s always willing to entertain my ridiculous ideas for fanarts/sketches (Exhibit A) and when I asked him to draw up a birthday strip for Miguel, well let’s just say this was written in the stars.

He’s currently tumblr-ing and drawing Changeling, a new minicomic, and you should buy his wares in print here.

ALSO: Everyone should get on their twittermachines and send your favorite Boss Battle co-creator/artist Miguel some birthday wishes. He’s an old man and doesn’t get many visitors these days.

This is Davis’ first strip he’s written and I hope it’s the first of many. He’s got to do more if he means to impress his comics hero, Benjamin Marra. And it’s going to need bustier ladies and a lot more blood.

This is somewhat of an homage to our brothers over at mustachemay.com. This year is its swan song, the last in the prolific artistic crucible that is an Eades production. Be well, comrades.

I told you Miguel cries a lot.

If you haven’t been following along, Miguel is late for work and is trying to sneak in without Renaud or Scarfaggio noticing. I wouldn’t really call this sneaky, but are you not entertained?

Plus: Davis insta-moustache. Magic follicles? When I stayed with him and Amanda in Brooklyn last week I’m pretty sure he grew a beard overnight.

Today starts a 3-strip arc chronicling Miguel trying not to get fired. We’ve all been there at least once, right? You just met the super-cool Davis, but who are the shadowy new characters?

There’s RENAUD, the boss and owner of the pit stop. Rugged, introspective, and ruthless, his life outside the Pit Stop is largely unknown (save for all the ELO tapes he keeps in his car and the “Redheads in Tunics” magazine Davis swiped out of the management bathroom)

His Italo-blattarian assistant manager is called Scarfaggio. He’s like Hank Pym except with powers of a cockroach. Roach-man didn’t sound right, and we wanted to honor his all-too obvious Italian heritage. He’s got wings, teeth like Jaws from 007, and has the vocal projection of a normal-sized man; a shouty, flying snake-loving comptroller, much like Aladdin’s Iago.

Just how many sub-basements the Pit Stop has, well, that’s a point of contention. Ask Davis. That’s the kind of thing he’d know.

Here we go!

This is the first strip we did before we really had any idea of characters outside of the two of us, and it’s almost 100% factual. Except that Miguel and I don’t live in the same state, and I don’t always carry a blade. I usually have a gun! A gun of peace, smiles, unicorns and friendship, of course.

There will be more fun adventures, actual story arcs, and characters on the way. Some of you might even find someone who eerily looks like you, sounds like you, but is in fact entirely fictional and in no way you at all (and especially for legal reasons not like any existing fictional characters.)

Hello! It’s been a few months in the making but life gets and has been busy. Miguel moved to Nashville from Detroit, and I’ve been in high demand for various awesome reasons. Mostly photo projects and slaving away around the house while Lisa (my wife) studies.
